Glencoe Grand Prix and Philadelphia International Cycling Championship

The Jamis/Sutter Home Professional Cycling Team continued its winning ways this past weekend as yet another rider came away with a victory at one of the most prestigious criteriums in the country. Taking the start of the Glencoe Grand Prix in Illinois, Jackie Simes, Guido Palma and Demis Aleman knew they would have their work cut out for them on the technical, 10-corner course. Attacks from the gun did little to faze the trio as they took turns covering each move and helping each other maintain position in the fast moving peloton.

At the race’s half way point, Jackie covered yet another breakaway attempt and within several laps found himself away with just one other rider and a growing advantage on the field. Working efficiently together, the two riders slowly padded their lead and entered the final lap over a minute ahead. Jackie played his cards perfectly and sat just behind his breakaway companion until they rounded the last corner, at which point the sprint opened up and Jackie was able to use his world class finishing kick to come around and take the victory!

The following day, eight Jamis/Sutter Home riders lined up at the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship, one of the largest and longest running races in the United States. Aggressive racing saw the full 124 mile race covered in just four and a half hours, and an almost 60 rider strong front group sprinting for the win. Approaching the line, Jamey Driscoll and Luis Amaran kept the pace high while Fernando Antogna maintained position near the front of the field. Exiting the final bend, Fernando surged with everything he had and finished in a very respectable 7th place!
